After some time with no application supporting well MSN protocol (aMsn supports, but it’s ugly
), three projects started with the objective of building a fully featured MSN Client in GNOME desktop. Emesene, Monkey Messenger and Landell. All three are under heavy deployment and they’re getting really nice.
Emesene is a client written in python. The deployment is really fast. Atm, only basic operations are done (btw, more recent stuff than gaim). No support for avatar support and no file transfer (yet!
).
Landell is a tapioca-voip‘ sub-project, written in C and C#. It supports multiple protocols (jabber, msn, yahoo, gizmo, ekiga etc), voice and video conference under jabber, adium chat styles, vcard and much more.
Monkey messenger is written in C# and uses dotMsn library. It supports custom emoticons, file transfer, display pictures, personal message and something more.

I dont see the point of having 3 more apps for the MSN protocol, all lacking the most needed feature: video support.
Why dont the helping to make video support for GAIM, a well know app, instead of doing a clone in Python, C# or ?
Kopete, KDE’s IM, supports everything from MSN and other protocols, plus video sessions.
Thats one reason why KDE projects have more developers than GNOME/Gtk ones. They dont spread code apart, instead, they contribute code.
